Backstory
Icaria is a female Avariel, born to both sides of the Avariel cast. Her mother was a warrior while her father was a scholar and bard. Growing up Icaria dreamed of breaking free from the prison that was the mountainous peaks of her homeland, her people secluded and fearful of what dwell outside of their protected walls discouraged such thoughts but her adventurous and explorative tendencies were far too strong to keep in check.
Her mother commonly was out of the house, sent out on patrols and was a key warrior in defense of their settlement. However on what days she returned she would enthrall Icaria with tales of adventure and glory. Having spent most of her time with her father however her ideals and tendencies were more like his own, but there was always that sparkle of adventure within those eyes of hers. Her mother always promised that one day she would take her with her upon one of her many adventures.. However that would never come to pass as whilst out on patrol her scouting party would be ambushed. The bodies never recovered and with no survivors her mother and those who served under her would be presumed dead. After many years Icaria would have grown into a woman with the adventurous nature and proud spirit of her mother along with the temperament and knowledge from her father she would prove to be far too strong willed to remain at home.
After careful consideration her father would finally relent and allow her to be free as she had always dreamed and from that day forward her adventures would begin. At some point in her journey she would be captured by slavers/poachers and brought to a camp having been brought and locked away in a cage she would begin to get to work at her escape, in the process while slipping away in the dead of night she would discover the poachers had captured a Giant Eagle. To which she would free and by doing so foster a bond with it. Together the two would escape and over the next several years become great allies. She was rescued 12 years ago from her confinement within the prison by one of the guards, Elishaza Yrshalem of the Rundeen and a satyr. She'd be released and set free with spies keeping an eye on her movements. Once she settled down gave Eli the perfect opportunity to start visiting alone on her own time.
After a few years of travel and adventure she would end up landing in Calimshan, where she is today exploring and learning more of these lands with the same eagle she had rescued all those years ago! While venturing through Calimshan, on the outskirts of Myratma Icaria uncovered a peculiar abnormality. A tree, ancient as it was, the bark had turned to stone. From its ancient limbs crystals imbued with magical energies sprouted from the surface. Curious as she was, she would take her time to construct a home around this point, studying it for the first year before deciding to bring on additional scholars. As the years progressed, she required funds to continue her research at which point she established The Octascholarum Academy. A magical institute where individuals could come to learn about the weave as well as the greater histories of Calimshan. With the funding she received she was able to continue her research. Ten years would pass and her Academy had grown to be a formidable academy, one of great renown, Icaria, as the High Curator would bring much to the surrounding settlements outside of Myratma.
Over a period of time, Icaria’s Academy would grow and flourish, eventually allowing her to put others in charge of its services while she continued her work. During her travels she had heard tales of the wonders of the High Forest, eager to investigate the rumors of ancient high elven ruins as well as ties to the Avariel People she’d prepare an expedition. It took her but a month to prepare and make the journey and upon arriving it took little time before she’d locate a suitable location for her studies, she’d commission a few workers and send work back to the Academy to send what resources were available to establish a camp.
Icaria would spend an extensive amount of time studying these ruins within the ancient forest. Something she covered extensively in her journals. What started out as a simple device that was uncovered, to a set of vanishing remains would culminate in an unavoidable danger that threatened not only the High Forest but the entirety of Faerun. Together with other like-minded wizards she would work towards uncovering the plot. In this quest she would meet a woman whom had been located by another group of researchers, this woman was another Avariel by the name of Istya.. who proved to be not just a simple member of her race, but an ancient avariel whom dated back to the time of the great war. Met with a choice, Istya decided to seal herself away those thousands of years ago in an effort to preserve her knowledge for future generations of Avariel.. only to fall into the hands of dark and decietful individuals who abused her. The abuse left a mark on her, and as such Icaria did her best to help her... everything was tied to the artifact, which eventually would be revealed to be a defense mechanism that was warped and misused. An ancient and powerful lich would rise to meet Icaria and the very forces of the High Forest, with the help of an ancient baelnorn Icaria would be gifted the knowledge of the rituals needed to stop him.. but not after a great and terrible battle. A better female faces update ruined her face so it had to essentially be remade and I went an entirely new route with it. But the general vibe remained the same!
